You know you are spoiled as a teacher when you walk into  Whimzy and are greeted by Sheryl Simpson, Diane White and a plate of homemade cupcakes! Such a wonderful group of women showed up for my Coptic Journal class today.  Sometimes when I am teaching - I pause and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for art with other like-minded souls. Thank you, ladies, for a great class!

Coptic Journal Class is this Saturday

I have the privilege of teaching at Whimzy this Saturday.

The class teaches how to make Coptic Journals from vintage books.

I had someone ask me what do you use the journals for? 

My response?

EVERYTHING!

There are so many different uses...

 As a calendar in my purse

Place for quick painting ideas  

and quick sketches along with inspiration pages

They also make great gifts, recipe books, wedding journals, scrapbooks...

and I should warn you--making these journals is HIGHLY addictive.

Learn to create beautiful coptic journals from start to finish using vintage bookcovers, papers, fabric, millinery and paint. Students will learn the basics of bookbinding, create their own covers using various mixed media layering techniques, and receive instructions so they can recreate journals at home.

 What an incredible day!

 My good friend Raylene and I headed down to bucolic Rainbow for a soldering class with Rita Reade.

I learned a tremendous amount and had such a great time. Everyone created unique and beautiful vintage bottles, we had a wonderful lunch alfresco by the pool --it was such a creative day filled with inspiration. I can't wait to do it all over again!

Block Printing at The French General

I've been a fan of all things Kaari Meng for quite awhile. So, whenever I need a little creative inspiration, I hit the French General website https://www.frenchgeneral.com/. During my last creative cyber foray,  I discovered a Block Printing class taught by Laura Palm at The French General. Block Printing? French General? What a perfect combination!

 Sunday Hubby and I went to see the Flower Fields in Carlsbad. Soul feeding colors stretched as far as the eye could see. Stopped by Rita Reade & Christy Repasy's booth and picked up a beautiful sign for my flower bed. A magical day.
